Orange County Magazine, 2003 Annual Edition
RON CHESPAK, PAPER SCULPTOR, FEATURED COVER ARTIST FOR THIS ANNUAL EDITION
By Michael McFadden, Publisher

The work of Ron Chespak is considered to be that of one of the world’s foremost paper sculptors. Known for distilling his subject matter into their simplest form, he uses meticulous care in cutting and molding paper to form three-dimensional images. His distinctive style, often referred to as minimalist expressionism, presents an intriguing interpretation of reality.

The artist’s architectural precision leads to stark, white-on-white objects that he contrasts with strong vivid color and graduated hues. The textural quality of the work is enhanced by light and shadow, providing infinite vantage points.

Artist’s accolades include being the Curator’s Choice Award Winner of the Thirteenth Annual National Exhibition, juried and curated by the Guggenheim Museum. Chespak’s work is also discussed in detail in art history textbooks. He has been featured on NBC, ABC, FOX, BBC, TLC and PBS TV and is the artist for many magazine covers, including 2003 edition of The Orange County Annual. His work is displayed in homes, museums and libraries throughout the world, while his limited editions, lithographs, prints and cards make his art available to everyone.
