Ron Chespak

ABOUT THE ARTIST

The paper sculpture of American Artist Ron Chespak combines depth and composition with stark white objects, strong vivid color and graduated hues that emerge with a texture of sophisticated elegance. It is the insistence and integrity of his work that makes it undeniable, sometimes with a sense of humor and always with a clear sense of perspective. Art Critic Robert Menifee has stated, “Of course the ‘fine art’ of it is in his hands, which select, mold, contort and combine fine-quality papers into surprising pieces. You see how it touches the light, noticing the intention.”

The Artist’s accolades include awards, national museum exhibitions and inclusion in the art history textbooks: Art History, McGraw-Hill; and Art, A Global Pursuit, Davis Publications, known for excellence in art education since 1901. He has been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC World News, FOX, The Learning Channel, BBC and a PBS special. His work has been selected for prominent magazine Annual Edition covers including California, Palm Springs Life and Orange County. Recent articles and reviews have been published in ArtNEWS, Southwest Art and newspapers nationwide. He also raises money and consciousness for several national charitable organizations while managing his own galleries and publishing company.

Chespak’s work was noticed by art critics and purchased by collectors throughout the late1980’s and at his first gallery in Laguna Beach, California. In 1999, he opened the Ron Chespak Paper Sculpture Gallery in Palm Springs, a venue where he showcases his art exclusively. In the past decade, he has earned worldwide recognition as one of the foremost artists working in paper sculpture today.

A California resident of 26 years, Ron was born on January 14,1960 in Newark, New Jersey. He is quoted in early childhood as saying, “I’m making something.” Moving to California in 1978, he then earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from California State University, Fullerton in 1982. He has always had this talent, but it was only after holding several positions as Senior Art Director and Creative Director for two of the world’s top advertising agencies that he decided to leave Madison Avenue to become the practicing international artist he is today. Together with his galleries and children’s art museum he continues to inspire a new generation of the art loving public.

He summarizes his work by saying, “Shadows, light and composition surround us everywhere. Capturing them in crisp form is what I do. My work thrives on the light and reflection of our world that can be looked at in so many ways. My work is graphic in nature but always natural in form. I like when people want to get closer and more involved with my art, it’s a trait I admire in people and in life. My art has taught me to become more involved, to trust myself and have more fun. It’s my gift.”
